Fire Extinguishers Must Be Carried! - Added 9/1/11 - 1000

We all need to be carrying fire extinguishers. There are two areas where we pass through forest blocks. The fire extinguishers you want are 450gm aerosol ABC type. The red one in the pic below (Fire Exit) and the First Alert Tundra are available for $20-$25 from Mitre 10, Mega, Placemakers, Bunnings and Briscoes stores.

Fuel Stop Information - Updated 6/1/11 - 1230

A table of possible fuel stops, open hours and distances between stops is available below as a PDF. Please click the image below to download it. It is suggested that you plan your fuel stops in advance given the time you intend to start the ride, the range of your bike and the hours that each fuel stop is open. It may be worth print the table and taking it with you on the ride.

Those with 300+km range will have no issues, those with below 270km of range may find then need to deviate from the route to Lawrence and on the way north through Omakau (to Alexandra) or carry spare fuel. See the notes at the bottom of the table for more information.

The proprietor of the Omakau petrol station has kindly agreed to open Sunday 23rd from 1130 to 1330 for our ride. Please make use of his generous support. The opening hours are based on riders leaving Alexandra at 0700. If you are a slower than average rider please leave earlier. There is more information about fuel stop distances here
